MKE Brewing Co. started as a brewpub, the Milwaukee Ale House, in October 1997 in Milwaukeeʼs Historic Third Ward. Fast forward 10 years and over 300 innovative beers later to November 2007 when MKE Brewing Co kegged off their first brew at their 2nd Street Brewery located in the trendy Walker’s Point neighborhood. A WDNR Green Tier Certified brewery, MKE Brewing Co. prides themselves on taking the artisan approach to brewing, using only the finest local ingredients and never making compromises. Wisconsin’s oldest licensed winery… founded in 1967! The Schmiling brothers that grew up in von Stiehl Winery now own and operate it. The older brother, Aric, utilizes the most modern equipment known to winemaking as he artfully crafts fine wines. The younger brother, Brad, likes romance and history and manages the business. The Civil War-era building, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, features a tasting room, a 10,000 square foot production facility, three Civil war era underground limestone tunnels and a spacious outdoor terrace with Lake Michigan views. Von Stiehl’s 30+ grape and fruit wine recipes use top quality ingredients from local fruit (Door County cherries), as well as West Coast-grown grapes (Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon).

At first, Mackinaws Grill & Spirits was just an idea we talked about whenever we stayed in log cabins during our annual family ski trips to the Colorado Rockies. That conversation became a reality in 2002, when we made the decision to harvest the mighty Norway Spruce Pines planted by my father and grandfather on Green Bay’s West Side. In fact, every part of the restaurant has ties to family and community. We are proud to offer comfort food, craft beer, select bourbon, and high-end spirits in a casual, rustic, welcoming environment. With those five immortal words, Glass Nickel Pizza Co. set out on a dream to offer the best pizza in town. Opening November 5th, 1997 on Atwood Avenue in Madison, Wisconsin, the first store was abuzz with excitement and orders. We will never forget the first call for our Deluxe Pizza and the subsequent shout from the kitchen, “We need green pepper! Someone chop a green pepper!”  Three days later our first employee was hired.  Today, not only is he still a part of our family, but our GM.
